Lakes shape the distinctive landscapes of Bavaria and Austria—still, clear and deep, like mirrors of the mountains. The early morning is a particularly beautiful time: when mist still hovers over the water and the first rays of sunlight bathe the mountain peaks in warm light. And somewhere in between, they are everywhere: these small, sometimes weathered wooden huts.
